Experimental Treatment For Strokes

Description

This study is looking at an experimental treatment for patients diagnosed with a stroke caused by a blockage in the blood vessels within the brain.

Overview

The standard treatment for stroke includes treating patients with the clot-dissolving drug and/or removing the blood clot from the blood vessels in the brain. Not all patients are able to receive the clot dissolving drug so this study is looking to test if a single dose of the study drug can reduce damage to brain cells in patients who have had a stroke and are having their clot removed. Patients will be randomly assigned to get the study drug or a placebo (an inactive substance).

What we're hoping for

We hope to learn if the study drug is safe and if it can prevent damage to brain cells during a stroke.
