A New Study Drug for Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis

Description

Seeking patients with moderate to severe Ulcerative Colitis. This study tests two amounts (doses) of a drug given by monthly injection compared with a fake medicine (placebo).

Overview

Participants of this study will get monthly injections with either 25mg or 75mg of the study drug or a placebo (fake medicine) over 3 months. You do not choose or know what dose, if any, you receive. Any side effects and benefits will be noted by patient report and through tests like blood draws, physical exam by the study doctor and examination of the colon by endoscopy. During the study you may choose to join a follow on study or not.

What we're hoping for

To learn if the study drug, SHP647, works to treat moderate to severe Ulcerative Colitis and is safe for the patient compared with no treatment (placebo).
