Study Of An Investigational Drug To Reduce Brain Swelling Caused By A Stoke

Description

Seeking men and women who are within 10 hours from the time they started to have stroke symptoms for a study of how well people who get the investigational drug in additional to the usual treatment recover compared to people who get a medicine without any active drug (placebo) in addition to the usual treatment.

Overview

Following a stroke that blocks blood flow to a large portion of the brain, people may experience brain swelling. We are studying whether an investigational drug is safe and effective in reducing brain swelling and whether this improves recovery from stroke. In this study some people will get the investigational drug and some people will get a placebo, which looks like the investigational drug but contains no actual medicine in addition to the usual treatment for stroke.

What we're hoping for

We hope that the investigational drug will reduce brain swelling and improve recovery from stroke affecting the brain.
