Study Of Blood Thinning Methods Following Implantation Of A Device To Treat Atrial Fibrillation

Description

Seeking men and women who will have their atrial fibrillation treated with implantation of a WATCHMAN FLX Pro Device at UMass Memorial for a study comparing three different medications to thin blood to prevent blood clots.

Overview

Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to be treated with one of three blood thinning medications (aspirin only for 12 months, low dose blood thinner for up to 3 months followed by aspirin for the remainder of the year, or aspirin and Plavix for up to 6 months followed by aspirin only for the remainder of the year). There are 6 study visits.

What we're hoping for

We are comparing three different medications to thin blood to prevent blood clots from forming following implantation of a WATCHMAN FLX Pro Device at UMass Memorial
