Study Of An Investigational Device To Temporarily Support Blood Flow During Coronary Heart Disease Procedures

Description

Seeking people aged 18 to 88 who will be undergoing a scheduled procedure at UMass Memorial health to open severe blockages in their heart arteries for a study of an investigational device to temporarily support blood flow during the procedure.

Overview

Participants in this study will either get the investigational heart pump system or the usual heart pump system (Impella). Either heart pump will be inserted using a catheter into an artery in the participants leg and up to their heart at the beginning of the procedure to open severe blockages in their heart arteries. The heart pump will be removed at the end of the procedure. Follow up phone calls will happen 30 and 90 days after the procedure.

What we're hoping for

We are studying whether an investigational device to temporarily support blood flow during a procedure to open severe coronary artery blockages is safe and effective.
